Print image specifications

The number of prints entered each evening is limited to two (2) per person unless approved ahead of time by the Print Chair.
To insure that your prints conform to required size for viewing, please follow these directions:

  1. Prints must be no smaller than 80 square inches (for example, 8x10 or 7x14 or 6x13, etc.).
  2. Prints must be mounted on clean, firm board (such as foam core), or in a mat. If a mat is not used the image must be FIRMLY adhered to the mounting board.
  3. Prints may be made from film (slides or negatives) or digital files and may be commercially or maker printed.
  4. No identification is to be visible on the front of the image or mat. Identification must be on the back of the mounted print in the upper left hand corner with the following information: name of the photographer with the first name as an initial and last name in full and title of the print; (e.g. "DBromley Pink flower").

Come to the meeting at least 15-20 minutes before the meeting begins. The prints are all mounted on the walls for all of the membership to view up close.

BPS mat Cutter

BPS has a mat cutter and mat board which can be available to all members. The equipment and supplies are located at Fred Chapman's house in Burnaby. Fred will not cut the mats but he, in conjunction with a number of members of the club, will make themselves available to help members who want to cut their own mats. The cutting sessions will be arranged to accommodate Fred and will likely be scheduled once a month.

The quality of the mats is excellent and the prices are very low compared to commercial businesses:

  • 20" x 16" — $4.50
  • 24" x 20" — $6.00
  • 28" x 22" — $7.00

There will likely be a supply of these dimensions, without the windows cut out, available to be used. There will be directions on cutting mat sizes from full sheets, if necessary, and a sheet to record what has been used. Members are asked to bring payment with them.

If you have any questions, please contact any of the following people. Contact information is in the Membership Roster you received via email. Please do not contact Fred Chapman directly.
