Print Image Specifications Print Nights

Print specifications for Club Nights

The number of prints entered on a "Print Night" is limited to  two (2)  per person unless approved ahead of time by the Print Chair.
To insure that your prints conform to required size for viewing, please follow these directions:

  1. Prints must be no smaller than 80 square inches (for example, 8x10 or 7x14, etc.).
  2. Prints should be mounted in a clean mat (16x20 recommended). If a mat is not used the image must be FIRMLY adhered to a mounting board.
  3. Prints may be made from film (slides or negatives) or digital files and may be commercially or maker printed.
  4. No identification is to be visible on the front of the image or mat. Identification must be on the back of the mounted print in the upper right hand corner with the following information:  Name of the photographer with the first name as an initial and last name in full and title of the print; (e.g. "DBromley Pink flower").

Come to the meeting at least 15-20 minutes before the meeting begins. The prints are to be mounted on the walls for an up-close viewing by the the membership before the meeting begins.

BPS mat Cutter

BPS has mat board and a mat cutter which is available for use to all members. The equipment and supplies are located at a member's house in Burnaby. You will be shown how to use the cutter. It is necessary to contact one of the members listed below to schedule a time to get access to the equipment. The cutting sessions will be arranged to accommodate the membership and will likely be scheduled once a month.

The quality of the mats is excellent and the prices are very low compared to commercial businesses:

  • 20" x 16" — $4.50
  • 24" x 20" — $6.00
  • 28" x 22" — $7.00

There will likely be a supply of these dimensions, without the windows cut out, available to be used. There will be directions on cutting mat sizes from full sheets, if necessary, and a sheet to record what has been used. Members are asked to bring cash payment with them.

If you have any questions, please contact any of the following people. Please follow these procedures so as not to disturb the "Keeper of the Cutter".

  • Ata Safar
  • Ron Jerome
  • David Bromley
  • Nick Snowdon
